Mwanza RC calls on elders to help in managing morals that seem deteriorated

MWANZA: MWANZA Regional Commissioner, Salum Hamduni, has called on Mwanza region elders to help in managing morals as morals have deteriorated at present.

CP Hamduni made the call today during a meeting of the Mwanza regional elders’ council held at his office in Mwanza.

“With our unity, elders should cooperate in managing the problem of managing the erosion of morals in society” he said.

He said the Government will continue to collaborate with the elderly in the region and ensure that they receive various services they deserve, emphasizing that the elderly are a national asset.

He said the aim of meeting with them is to listen to their challenges, receive advice as well as set strategies to ensure they receive services on time.

He said Mwanza Region has a total of 185,818 elderly people, who need various services, so the Government is continuing efforts to ensure their needs are taken into account.

“The elderly are a national asset. I am ready to receive advice from the elderly at any time to ensure that we solve the challenges they face,” CP Hamduni said.

In addition, He said the Government will continue to work closely with the elderly through the elders’ councils and the elderly recognition systems, to ensure that the services provided continue to be sustainable.

He urged the elderly to continue to collaborate with the Government by providing advice and participating in finding solutions to the challenges they face.

He stressed the importance of unity and cooperation between the elderly and the Government in managing and solving various challenges related to the welfare of the elderly in Mwanza region.

One of the elders from the Mwanza region, Mr Levy Mweni, promised to continue collaborating with the Government on various development issues.

He has requested the Mwanza regional commissioner to restore the status of cotton farming, where the crop was previously the hallmark of Mwanza region.
