Four-time StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions URA FC have signed highly regarded goalkeeper Khassim Hafizi on a two-year contract from Express FC.
Hafizi’s arrival directly from the Red Eagles marks one of the interesting domestic transfers ahead of the new campaign, as he joins the long list of players leaving Express.
The commanding shot-stopper, who established himself as a mainstay between the posts and wore the captain’s armband for Express last term, steps into a competitive goalkeeping department at the Tax Collectors.
Known for his agility, composure under pressure, and precise distribution from the back, Hafizi was officially unveiled by URA FC as head coach Jimmy Kintu continues reshaping his squad for a title tilt.
In an official statement, URA highlighted Hafizi’s leadership and tactical suitability as the main reasons for the move.
“He brings composure, confidence and good distribution to the goalkeeping department—qualities that will add valuable competition and depth ahead of the upcoming campaign,” the club stated.
Hafizi steps into a roster that already boasts established shot-stoppers Chrispas Kusiima, Muhammad Ssekeba, and Abdul Magada. Rather than shying away from the crowded unit, the netminder expressed delight at the new challenge.
“I am very happy to join URA FC,” Hafizi said. “It is a big opportunity for me, and I am grateful to the club for believing in me. I know what is expected of me, and I am ready to work hard, learn, and give my best every day.”
With the 2026/27 league season fast approaching, Kintu’s technical bench now possesses enviable depth in goal as the four-time champions attempt to mount a serious challenge against reigning league heavyweights.
The Tax Collectors lie eighth on the log with three points in two games and will take on NEC FC on Tuesday, September 15, at MTN Omondi Stadium in their next UPL game.
