Janet Jackson is known for stopping us in our tracks with her light but piercing vocals, flawless beauty and in-your-face style. Now she’s literally turning heads with a hair transformation that has everyone talking.

The feathered bob hits just below her chin, with soft, choppy layers that move every time she does. Janet rocked honey-blonde highlights that melt into deeper brown at the root, giving the color dimension under the stage lights. Parting her hair deep to one side, she let long, swoopy bangs fall over one eye, while piecey, tousled ends kept the look so fresh.

On stage in Singapore, Janet paired the bob with an all-denim look and made it fly with every hair flip. Together, Janet’s hair and fit created a fierce beauty moment, reminiscent of the singer’s earlier looks. In other words, Janet doesn’t age or stop turning out looks.

The performance marked Janet’s first show in Singapore since 2011, and she gave the crowd hits like “Rock With U” and “Control.”

Ashanti Lation Calls It “The Janet Cut”

Behind the look is Ashanti Lation, the New Orleans-born, LA-based celebrity hairstylist known as “The Healthy Hair Guru.” Founder of VIP Hair Care and Lation Beauty, Ashanti also styles stars like Latto, Tems, Normani and Olandria.

“Hair by me on THEE QUEEN,” Ashanti wrote on Instagram, sharing photos from the show. In a follow-up post, she named the style “The Janet Cut.”

Janet has her own favorite detail. “[To] me, what makes it nice are the pieces. It needs to have those pieces,” she said in a video Ashanti shared on TikTok. The pieces referred to the highlights and wispy ends.

The comments section agreed. “That hair made such a statement!!! She IS the queen of pop,” one fan wrote.

One commenter took it back to 2004, writing, “It’s giving DAMITA JOOOOOO.” Another fan summed up the moment: “You bought the old Janet to the new Janet… ATE THAT!”

And yet another fan gave Ashanti her flowers, echoing Janet’s own words: “And you definitely got the pieces right.”

Janet and Ashanti are already proving how versatile this bob can be. After returning from Singapore, Janet hit the red carpet at Dancers Against Cancer’s 2026 Gala of the Stars at The Beverly Hilton on Oct. 22. This time, she went from fierce, bold and edgy to sultry, romantic and chic.

Janet kept her bobiana but sleeked it back, moving the wispy bangs completely off her face to show off her ombré roots and gorgeous facial features. She paired the hair look with soft glam, including a smoky liner and a nude lip. For the gown, Janet chose a dramatic black lace Christian Siriano design with a high neckline, sheer sleeves and a tiered, scalloped skirt that swept the floor. Twisted statement hoops added just the right amount of shine.
