Wanda Haynes, CS

I recently took a cruise with American Cruise Lines and it was pure paradise!

The American Legend cruise ship was built in 2024 and is stunningly beautiful. The Fall Foliage Cruise touring the Hudson River, Catskills, West Point, New York City, the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, and much more.

American Cruise Lines has a rich history with the country's waterways. Proudly American-made intimate ships offer a unique blend of luxury and heritage.  Inviting passengers to experience the charm of exquisite service and explore hidden gems in the USA. As we celebrate our 250-year anniversary as Americans.

Remember, American Cruise Lines proudly acknowledges 50 years in the cruise industry.

Founder Charles A. Robertson (1947-2020), a shipbuilder, who started American Cruise Lines with his wife Carol. American Cruise Lines has new routes and introduced new ship technology to the cruise industry. All 25+ ships are built in the USA, American crew members, and customer service is also in the USA. The company’s headquarters is located in Guilford, CT

My trip was easy to navigate, and I received regular emails about what to expect on route. We stayed at The Renaissance Hotel in Albany, NY the night before loading onto the ship. A fantastic stay with modern rooms with a wonderful restaurant “Wellington’s” that served breakfast, lunch, and dinner at a fair price.

I had a chance to meet some of the passengers while waiting on the coach to transport us. Everyone was filled with excitement and getting to know each other.

The luxurious coach bears the American Cruise Line’s name, manufactured by Mercedes Benz and very specific and comfortable for seating with strategically placed handrails to prevent falls. When I saw the American Legend in the port, tucked among the fall trees, I began cheering like a schoolgirl over the majestic way the ship held its place, and awaited her passengers.

How was your cabin, Wanda?

The isles on the ship are wide and I never felt crowded, the advantage of an intimate vessel in more ways than one.

My cabin 204 was on deck two and absolutely gorgeous. Thick high-quality bed linens, a large balcony with chairs and a table. Big closets with shelves, wooden hangers, comfortable desk with chairs, extra-large television with plenty of entertainment options. Chairs with arms is a big deal for people with age, and mobility issues. There aren’t interior cabins which is a luxury and adds value for all passengers.

The bathroom shower was my favorite part of the cabin, due to the non-slip texture even when wet. Two shower heads, one removable and one stationary. Terrific lighting for putting on makeup. Shampoo, conditioner, full sized bars of soap, makeup remover, body lotion, and hydrating body wash was fantastic. My cabin was cleaned daily by friendly staff, including a turndown service, and the entire ship is simply spotless.

The entire ship is welcoming for wheelchairs and those with mobility issues. I only use the elevator at this stage of life. The natural light met its way through windows and doors. Ceiling lights and well-placed lamps offered great visual and photo opportunities.

Wide doorways were able to accommodate wheelchairs, and the decks were perfect for overseeing the sights, making new friends, and flourishing in the glow of the Hudson River. The ship was very quiet even during sleep, I couldn’t tell when we were moving most of the time. Comfortable seating throughout the entire ship, ask for a riser for the toilet if you have bad joints. The crew takes pride in helping anyway they can.

Pearl Seas is their sister company which sails into Canada, and the USA.
