By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police are investigating an armed robbery at a store in Bella Vista Village that left the proprietor injured and thousands of dollars in cash and property stolen.
According to police, officers responded to 87 Store around 6:25pm on Sunday after receiving a report of an armed robbery.
The 47-year-old businessman told police that two masked men entered the establishment.
One of the men, described as a slim-built Hispanic male about six feet tall, allegedly held him at gunpoint while the second man went to the cash register.
Police say approximately $6,000 in cash was stolen along with a 9mm Glock 43 firearm and three cell phones.
The proprietor also reported that he was kicked in the face and pistol-whipped in the head during the robbery.
A doctor later certified his head injuries as harm.
Police obtained surveillance footage from the scene.
Two men, ages 20 and 35, have been detained pending investigation into the robbery.
The investigation continues.
