Radical change

I have conversations about how successful countries of the future will operate, and there is talk of Lee Kuan Yew and the miracles he performed in Singapore, paying his cabinet a million dollars each and teaching them to deal only in outcomes; what Javier Milei has done in Argentina to reduce the size of the state and its spending; the ordered societies of Switzerland and Jantes law in Scandinavia, urging people not to try to better their neighbour; and even the bombastic approach of Donald Trump, I would dare to say.

But I always return in those conversations to how radical change will actually happen? 

Will it become obvious when digital voting arrives that the people can express their opinions on a regular basis and on issues rather than political parties?

Will a great leader come along? Would a Richard Branson or Steve Jobs step up? 

I doubt it…. why would anyone really capable from business, and that is the expertise that is needed, want to step into such a Lion’s Den… not yet anyway until the anarchic arguing pit of Parliament egged on by the press is dissolved.

When I cast way out what comes in on my line is that societies of the future will actually be governed by artificial intelligence to a great degree so we are already on track…

Do you not already warm to the intelligent and balanced view that Chat GPT and the rest give you even this early on?… So now try wondering how that will develop and whom you would trust in time more with your politics that or a human being with all of our inevitable angles, foibles and dark side, all of us you and I too? 

And who would you trust more to spend your tax money, an administration looking over their shoulders or an AI agent meticulously specifying, contracting and accounting for every penny spent especially as the works will by then be done by a veritable army of humanoid robots and this becoming reality before your newborn today becomes a teenager?

And this too is exactly how you will run your business’s and with the opportunity further on, when you have made your pile perhaps, to pick up the mantle as you cast around for ‘what’s next’ and become one of a small tight cabinet of 30 and 40 year old’s that I imagine working with the technology I describe to make Great Britain, free of the constraints of any union, a model that the world copies.

In spite of the crises that abound around us, you who are born here are lucky beyond belief to come from such a heritage of enterprise. 

After all if an alien where to land and ask where has all the action been this last 1000 years he would be bewildered to learn that it is this small island of creative people in the top right hand corner of the Atlantic.
