By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 30 year old labourer has been detained after allegedly beating his common law wife at their Orange Walk Town home on Sunday afternoon.
According to the report, a 25 year old call agent arrived home with her two children around 3:30pm after watching football at the Louisiana football field.
She told police her common law husband of 11 years began accusing her of having an affair with a neighbour. She said she tried to calm him down because their children were home, but he punched her twice to the left eye, then to the mouth and about her body.
She reached for a pair of scissors nearby, which he grabbed from her hand, cutting her right index finger. She said the bleeding was profuse and that he continued punching her despite her pleas.
She told police he then dragged her into the bathroom, told her to bathe and locked her inside.
Police arrived shortly after. She said the accused attempted to run but officers grabbed him.
Her injuries were certified as wounding. Court action has been requested.
