GEL opens global education pathways for Tanzanian students

DAR ES SALAAM: HUNDREDS of Tanzanian students departed the country today for various international universities to pursue higher education opportunities through Global Education Link (GEL).

The students, who departed through Terminal 3 of Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, have largely opted for academic programmes aligned with science, technology and other disciplines that are increasingly critical to the global economy. Their areas of study include Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Civil Engineering, various health-related programmes, law and business.

Speaking on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of Global Education Link, Dar es Salaam Branch Manager Micky Musa said the students’ departure forms part of a broader initiative to connect Tanzanian youth with international education opportunities and equip them with globally competitive skills.

He said that, in addition to India, Global Education Link is continuing preparations for other groups of students scheduled to travel to China, while others are at different stages of preparation to pursue their studies in Malaysia, the United States and the United Kingdom.

“As time goes on, Tanzanians will continue to see more groups of students departing for studies abroad. We encourage young people who aspire to pursue higher education overseas to visit our offices in Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Zanzibar, Mwanza and Arusha. There is still time. Bring your academic results, and at Global Education Link, we are ready to help turn your aspirations into reality,” Musa said.

He further urged parents and guardians whose children are aspiring to study abroad to utilise Global Education Link’s services for professional guidance on university selection, academic programmes, admissions, visa applications and travel preparations.

Among those who departed were students pursuing Computer Science Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. The students said they had chosen these fields in response to the rapid pace of technological transformation and the growing importance of digital skills in driving modern economic development.

The continued departure of Tanzanian students for international universities reflects the growing demand among young people for globally recognized academic qualifications and specialized skills capable of contributing to Tanzania’s socio-economic transformation and competitiveness in the global economy.
