The ‘Broken Acrylic Nail’ Lawsuit Against Lizzo’s Touring Company Is Officially Over

Lizzo’s legal case involving a broken acrylic nail is officially over.

The flute-playing singer shared the news with her followers on Instagram on September 1. A federal judge dismissed remaining claims in a lawsuit filed by former wardrobe assistant Asha Daniels against Lizzo’s Big Grrrl Big Touring. The case has been going on for three years.

“Today I am relieved to announce that I have won the case against me and my touring company Big Grrrl Touring,” Lizzo wrote on social media.

Lizzo also pointed to one nail-biting detail from the case that quickly stood out online.

“All the ridiculous claims by a wardrobe assistant who worked on tour for less than 3 weeks, including a claim they broke an acrylic nail, have been dismissed,” she continued.

Lizzo Says ‘The Truth Has Prevailed’

Daniels filed the lawsuit in September 2023 after working on the European leg of Lizzo’s tour. She accused members of the touring operation of racial and sexual harassment, discrimination and unsafe working conditions.

A judge dismissed Lizzo as an individual defendant in 2024. Then on September 1, U.S. District Judge Fernando L. Aenlle-Rocha granted summary judgment in favor of Big Grrrl Big Touring and dismissed Daniels’ remaining claims.

“I prayed for the truth to come out and thanks to my incredible lawyers, the truth has prevailed,” Lizzo wrote online.

But, Lizzo Still Faces A Separate Lawsuit From Former Dancers

Fans quickly jumped into Lizzo’s comments supporting the singer and her fight for justice. Others brought up another high-profile lawsuit that first put Lizzo at the center of controversy in 2023.

It is important to note that high profile case still remains open.

Former dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez filed a separate lawsuit accusing Lizzo and others of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment, among other allegations. The lawsuit alleges that Lizzo pressured her former dancers to interact with nude performers during a sex show in Amsterdam. Lizzo has denied the claims.

In May 2026, Lizzo sat down with CBS Mornings and discussed the ongoing litigation. During the conversation, she said that “most people would” settle the lawsuit. But Lizzo isn’t most people. The Yitty owner said she has no plans to do so.

“I think it is an easy out, but I’m fighting the case because I know that it’s not true,” she said at the time.

Some claims in the dancers’ case have already been dismissed, but the larger lawsuit remains active. For now, Lizzo is celebrating her recent legal win.

She ended her post by thanking her lawyers and supporters and saying she plans to continue sharing “positivity and light to the world.”
