New Bafana Bafana coach Pitso names two assistants
Newly appointed Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has confirmed the first members of his technical team.

Mosimane introduced Musi Matlaba and Kabelo Rangoago during his Bafana Bafana press conference. He revealed that both coaches have progressed from their previous analyst and trainer roles after obtaining their coaching qualifications.
The new mentor explained that the pair will continue to specialise in their respective areas while taking on coaching responsibilities within his technical team.

Mosimane revealed that Matlaba will focus heavily on match analysis and player data.
“I want to introduce my technical team here, Musi Matlaba, who is a coach,” Mosimane said at the press conference. “That specialises in match analysis and data tracking of players.

He also confirmed Rangoago as another assistant coach, while highlighting the development of both members of his team.
“And then I have Kabelo Rangoago, who is also my assistant coach. They are both coaches by the way. I think the last time you knew about them they were just doing their jobs as analysts and trainers. They went further to get their qualifications.
Mosimane believes their new qualifications allow them to take on greater coaching responsibilities while retaining their specialist roles.
“Now you can refer to them as coaches because they qualified as coaches but they are still specialising in their respective fields.”
ANOTHER NAME IS YET TO FOLLOW
The Bafana Bafana coach also confirmed that another assistant coach will be added to his technical team. However, the appointment is yet to be finalised, with Mosimane explaining that contractual situations have complicated the process.
“Another assistant coach is still coming. We are working on that, it’s not easy, some coaches are under contract. We will announce that later,” Mosimane concluded.
For Mosimane, the process of rebuilding South Africa has already begun.
With the 2027 AFCON qualifiers approaching, the new technical team will have little time to settle before the national team’s first competitive assignments.
