Grand Cayman Has the Best Ritz-Carlton in the Caribbean, From the Service to Seven Mile Beach

Extraordinary hospitality, Blue by Eric Ripert, a Greg Norman golf course and a spectacular beach make this our favorite.

The service at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is as good as any resort we’ve ever been to. It’s the first thing we think about when we remember our stay, and the strongest reason this is our pick for the best Ritz-Carlton in the Caribbean.

We adored it. The food, the beach, the people: everything we most wanted from a Caribbean luxury vacation came together here. You have Blue by Eric Ripert, a Greg Norman-designed golf course and an extraordinary stretch of Seven Mile Beach, all supported by hospitality that stands alongside the best we’ve experienced anywhere.

We would choose it even over Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Puerto Rico. The spectacular shoreline helps give Grand Cayman the edge, but our preference comes from the entire experience.

Service That Stays With You

The warmth and attentiveness made us feel comfortable throughout our stay. We felt looked after, and that feeling became as much a part of the vacation as swimming or sitting down to dinner.

At this level, expectations are high. The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman exceeded ours through the quality of its hospitality. It’s the kind of service that makes returning to the same hotel an easy decision, even when there are so many other places you want to visit.

We’ve praised this resort’s combination of service, dining and shoreline before. Together, they remain the foundation of its appeal.

A Spectacular Stretch of Seven Mile Beach

Seven Mile Beach gives you soft white sand, remarkably clear water and a shoreline that invites long walks between swims. At the Ritz-Carlton, spending an entire afternoon beside the sea feels like an excellent use of your time.

You can plan golf, spa appointments and excursions around Grand Cayman, then find yourself reluctant to leave your beach chair. The water is that inviting, and the setting is that beautiful.

It’s a significant part of why we prefer this resort to Dorado Beach. When we picture the beach vacation we want to repeat, this is the sand and sea we see.

Blue, and Much More

Blue by Eric Ripert gives the resort a destination dining experience, with seafood at the center of prix-fixe and multi-course tasting menus. It’s a restaurant worth planning an evening around, and having it inside your hotel is a considerable luxury.

We’ve long celebrated Blue, including reporting on its renovation and reopening. The broader food offering was another reason we loved our stay.

You can make dinner a different experience each night: sushi at Taikun, steak and seafood at Seven, Italian cooking at Andiamo, then a tasting menu at Blue. Saint June keeps you beside the beach for open-air dining. That range gives you plenty to look forward to over several nights.

An Evening at Silver Palm

Silver Palm deserves time of its own. The lounge has a great rum selection, giving you a compelling reason to settle in and explore the Caribbean through its signature spirit. We’ve spent many a warm, memorable evening in its comfortable chairs.

Cocktails, Caribbean cacao, hand-picked cigars and live entertainment round out the offering. It’s an appealing place to extend the evening after dinner, particularly if discovering another rum is part of your idea of a good vacation.

Time for the Spa and the Course

The 20,000-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Spa pairs ESPA body treatments with 111SKIN facials, complemented by a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and separate relaxation lounges. Leave a few hours open for a treatment and time unwinding afterward.

The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club adds a nine-hole Greg Norman design overlooking the North Sound. You can play a shorter round or another loop, leaving room in the day for the beach and an evening reservation. In our view, it’s the best nine-hole golf course in the Caribbean — and one of the most beautiful nine-hole tracks anywhere.

That’s the appeal of staying at the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman: exceptional food, golf, a substantial spa and one of our favorite beaches, with service that makes the whole experience feel effortless. It’s hard to beat — and our favorite Ritz-Carlton in the Caribbean.
