Cricket : Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados Register Victories in West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 Men’s Championship

The West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 Men’s Championship continued on Saturday with commanding victories for the Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados in an exciting day of regional youth cricket.

The Leeward Islands Under-19 Men produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Jamaica Under-19 Men by 120 runs at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.

After posting a competitive 275 for 7 from their allotted 50 overs, the Leeward Islands bowlers dismantled Jamaica’s batting lineup, dismissing them for 155 in 35.5 overs to secure an emphatic victory.

At the Liberta Sports Club, Trinidad and Tobago Under-19 Men recorded a hard-fought  24-run win over Guyana Under-19 Men.

Batting first, Trinidad and Tobago were bowled out for 167 in 40.5 overs. However, their bowlers responded superbly, restricting Guyana to 143 in 34.3 overs to seal an important victory.

Meanwhile, at the Bethesda Sports Ground, Barbados Under-19 Men delivered the batting performance of the day, piling up a formidable 392 for 9 from their 50 overs before defeating Windward Islands Under-19 Men by 114 runs.

Facing a daunting target of 393, the Windward Islands fought valiantly but finished on 278 for 7 from their allotted 50 overs, handing Barbados a comprehensive victory.

The results continue to shape the standings as teams battle for top honours in the regional Under-19 competition, with several outstanding individual and team performances highlighting the future talent of West Indies cricket.
