CASSIUS Gems: ‘Street Fighter’s’ Callina Liang Understood The Assigment As Chun-Li
Callina Liang transformed into Chun-Li for Street Fighter, gaining 6.5cm on each thigh through intense martial arts training and a high-protein diet.

If you haven’t seen the Street Fighter movie yet, you’re missing out on Callina Liang as the legendary World Warrior Chun-Li, and her amazing thighs.
Street Fighter has kicked and punched its way into theaters, and owned the box office, bringing in $31 million in its first weekend and just about $51 million globally.
The film packs in stars like 50 Cent (Balrog), Eric André (Don Savage), Noah Centineo (Ken Masters), Andrew Koji (Ryu), Roman Reigns (Akuma), Jason Momoa (Blanka), Cody Rhodes (Guile), and David Dastmalchian (M. Bison). Still, Liang, as Street Fighter’s first lady, was fans’ MVP for obvious reasons.
Liang (26) didn’t half-ass the role, knowing that becoming the lightning-kick specialist would require her to look the part.
Chun-Li is easily one of the most popular and recognizable video game characters on the planet. One of her standout features is her thighs, and to prepare for the role, Liang revealed in an interview with Empire Magazine, and reported by IGN, that she followed a strict martial arts workout routine and ate a high-protein diet to build muscle, including her thighs, which almost made her sick.
“Chun-Li is all kicks. So we did a bunch of Taekwondo training, Muay Thai, and Wushu (Kung Fu). I did two hours of that a day and strengthened my legs a lot and changed my diet drastically. When I was bulking, I ate 12 eggs a day. Every two hours I had to have a meal, and I was on the verge of throwing up. But it worked. By the end of the shoot, my thighs had grown six-and-a-half centimeters each,” she said in the August interview.
Well, all her hard work paid off because the thirst and appreciation for her effort to become Chun-Li were very real.
We would too.
Liang is still riding high off her performance in Street Fighter, and, as a huge gamer, she said she wants to star in the upcoming film adaptation of the video game Dead by Daylight.
“I have a PC setup at home. When I’m not working, I’m either reading or playing online with my friends. Right now, I’m playing a lot of ‘Dead by Daylight,” Liang said in an interview with Variety.
Listen, we wouldn’t mind seeing more of Callina Liang on screen, just saying.
