By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City messenger received his first drug-related conviction after pleading guilty to possession of a crack pipe.
Alexander Rodolfo Chan, 37, of Antelope Street, appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this week, where he admitted to possession of a pipe.
Police alleged that Chan was found with a metal pipe on June 24, 2026. The object had reportedly been used or adapted for smoking crack cocaine.
In mitigation, Chan asked the court to impose a fine rather than a custodial sentence. The court considered that he was a first-time offender with no previous drug-related convictions.
Chan was fined $150, along with $5 in court costs. He was given until August 31, 2026, to pay the total amount or serve two weeks in prison.
