The State has withdrawn rape charges against hip-hop musician Mukudzeyi Chatsama, better known as Holy Ten, before plea, citing lack of evidence.
Holy Ten, who had been accused of sexually abusing a minor, was arrested earlier this year and had been on remand for about three months as his case was repeatedly postponed.
He was denying the allegations.
Speaking to journalists, Admire Rubaya, said the State had conceded that it did not have sufficient evidence to take the matter to trial.
“My client is now free. The matter was withdrawn for lack of evidence. The State has seen the charges are bogus and that the evidence could not sustain trial,” Rubaya said.
