By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in Orange Walk Town have charged a 38 year old man after a roadside check reportedly revealed that his vehicle insurance, vehicle licence and driver’s licence had all expired.

According to police, officers were conducting mobile patrol along Liberty Avenue at around 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, when their attention was drawn to a grey Toyota pickup parked on the right side of the road.

Police say the driver was attempting to start the vehicle when officers approached and checked the relevant documents.

The Atlantic insurance disc had reportedly expired on March 29, 2026, while the vehicle licence sticker had expired in March. Police also say the driver’s licence expired on June 9, 2026.

The driver was identified as 38 year old Gualter Alexander Leveron of San Jose Palmar Village.

Leveron was informed of the alleged offences, cautioned and taken to the Orange Walk Police Station.

He was later formally arrested and charged with using a motor vehicle not covered by third party risk insurance, using an unlicensed motor vehicle and driving without a valid driver’s licence.

Police say Leveron chose to remain silent when asked if he wished to respond to the charges.
