We Think These 5 Nigerian Game Shows Could Replace BBN

Big Brother Naija has remained Nigeria’s biggest game show for years, and as it starts to see lower social media interest, we are wondering which game shows could replace it. In this article, we list five game shows that we believe can replace Big Brother Naija.

  1. Family Feud

Hosted by Bisola Aiyeola, this local adaptation of the popular game show brings two families into a head-to-head game where they compete to guess answers to popular survey questions.

Although “Family Feud” isn’t a live show like BBN, it could replace it because it delivers the same communal feel as Big Brother Naija. It also allows for competition and choosing sides just like Big Brother Naija does.

  1. The Hunts Games Show

Hosted by social media creator Nons Maraj, this trendy dating and reality game show features contestants going on blind dates and participating in interactive segments, where they eventually decide whether to pursue a relationship.

This game show allows for conversation, gives the energy of a show for a mature audience, and also creates space for communal bonding.

  1. The Price is Right, Nigeria

This is a local version of the classic, popular pricing show where audience members compete to win cash and merchandise by pricing retail items correctly and accurately.

Nothing unites a society like a competitive game and a chance to win prizes, and this game show provides all the tools needed. It is the perfect example of a game show that could replace Big Brother Naija.

  1. Masoyinbo

“Masoyinbo” is a competitive, interactive game show created to promote, preserve, and encourage the use and richness of the Yoruba language and culture through tests of fluency and knowledge. Contestants on this show must answer every question entirely in Yoruba.

This makes it a good way to learn the language, bond over cultural knowledge, and root for the contestant who wins a cash prize.

  1. Perfect Family

Perfect Family” is a Nigerian family reality variety and game show produced by StarTimes that celebrates family bonds and teamwork. Hosted by Lilian Afegbai, the show features Nigerian families competing in fun challenges, trivia, and talent displays to win cash and prizes worth over 5 million Naira, without harsh elimination rules.

The competitive nature of this game show makes for good television and entertainment. With the right social media presence, it could become a hot topic in Nigerian society.

What do we think?

Although Big Brother Naija has a huge, loyal audience that has stuck with it through seasons, a new game show could still take over the Nigerian audience that enjoys competitive shows.
