UPDATE: Rick Ross’ Arraignment Postponed As Prosecutors Delay Decision On Formal Domestic Violence Charges (VIDEO)

Rick Ross‘ arraignment following his arrest for an alleged domestic violence incident was postponed on Thursday, October 22. The proceedings were rescheduled for Friday, November 6, after prosecutors failed to formally file domestic violence charges against the rapper.

Rick Ross’ Arraignment Postponed

Rick Ross will have to wait until November to be arraigned on domestic violence charges, according to WSVN. The artist’s arraignment was supposed to take place on Thursday for felony battery by strangulation. In addition, Ross was expected to be charged with misdemeanor domestic violence. However, prosecutors failed to formally file the charges, and subsequently, the proceedings were postponed.

Furthermore, the state attorneys reportedly stated that they needed more time to decide if they will file charges, according to NBC6SouthFlorida. Ross was arrested after his ex-girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, accused him of domestic violence, but he denies the accusation.

Rick Arrested In Miami

As reported by The Shade Room, Ross was arrested on Thursday, October 1, after Kendrick filed a police report in Miami days earlier. Kendrick accused Ross of busting her lip and choking her. In addition, she claimed that Ross hit her in the chest, slammed her into a wall and pulled her ponytail in a jealous rage.

“The recording artist allegedly ‘struck the victim in the chest several times’,” reads the police report. “Choked the victim to the point she could not breathe… proceeded to grab the victim by her ponytail and slam the victim against the wall… then began to strike her in the face as she was bent over, causing a busted lip.”

Kendrick claims that the incident occurred at Ross’ home in Miami Beach on Friday, August 28. A Miami Beach Police spokesperson, Christopher Bess, reportedly said that detectives collected pictures and surveillance video of the alleged incident. Furthermore, they claimed to have had “probable cause” to arrest the rapper.

Rick Ross Denies Domestic Violence Accusations

As reported by The Shade Room, the recording artist strongly denied Kendrick’s accusations following his arrest. Furthermore, Ross claimed to be innocent.

“First and foremost, I’m totally innocent of these fabricated allegations made against myself,” said Ross. “I repeat. I’m totally innocent with these fabricated allegations made against myself. Now, I have an amazing team, such an amazing team, and I’m totally confident that these fabrications will be laid to rest.”

Ross added that he was going to Paris and getting a bowl of rigatoni “with heavy marinara.”  

Ross’ lawyer, Steve Sadow, also released a statement noting that Rozay is “innocent,” per KTLA. Furthermore, he noted that the police report was not immediately filed after the alleged incident.

“The ex did not even file a police report until a month after the claimed incident allegedly took place,” Sadow wrote. “Mr. Roberts is innocent and has pled not guilty to the charges. He respectfully requests that his friends, fans and the general public not prejudge the situation and allow the judicial process to run its course.”

Ross will reportedly not attend the arraignment in November.
