HOSTING of the Zanu PF 23rd National People’s Conference next month has brought tangible development to Mashonaland West, with major water and infrastructure upgrades at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) and surrounding communities, a senior party official has said.
Speaking during a tour of the conference venue this weekend to assess progress, Zanu PF Mashonaland West provincial chairman, Senator Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, said she is excited about the legacy projects being delivered ahead of the annual event.
“Our university has been upgraded to international standards. The hostels, the furnishings, everything is literally being ripped out, and brand-new stuff and modern things are being put in, which is really something that I am happy about,” said Mliswa-Chikoka.
The chairman said the biggest win was water provision, a long-standing challenge for Chinhoyi residents.
“It is not just about having water at the conference facility but having it across the town. The issue of water has been something that has been bothering the citizens of Chinhoyi town for a long time,” she added.
Further the Senator highlighted: “We want to thank His Excellency President Dr E.D. Mnangagwa for emphasising on the need for having water in Chinhoyi. Access to clean water is what he wants as our President. It is life changing. All hands are on deck on the issues of water.”
Mliswa-Chikoka said final touches were now being put on the CUT venue, with the bulk of the work complete.
Thousands of delegates are expected in Chinhoyi for the party’s 23rd National People’s Conference running from October 12-17, 2026.
Government has chipped in saying road rehabilitation, water works and refurbishment of CUT will remain as a lasting legacy for the province beyond the conference.
