By Zoila Palma: Today, Francis Fonseca, in his capacity as Minister of Culture, and accompanied by Ayesha Borland, Director of International Affairs at Belize Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade met with Alex Noblerto, President of the National Garifuna Council (NGC), and Sharrie Gordon, Assistant Secretary of the NGC.
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the Government and the NGC in advancing the preservation, promotion and development of Garifuna culture and heritage in Belize.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss regional cooperation and the role of Belize in advancing cultural and people-to-people connections.
Noblerto was recently elected Vice President of the Constituent Assembly of the Federation of the Peoples of the Western Caribbean, further strengthening Belize’s engagement within regional cultural networks.
