D4VD Is Likely Cooked

D4VD has traded his celebrity defense team for a public defender as prosecutors continue weighing the death penalty in the Celeste Rivas Hernandez case.

D4VD Is Likely Cooked

D4VD is either cooked or his life is ready to be made into a movie.

His bleakest courtroom chapter is here. It is now confirmed that he lost the private lawyers entrusted with his future.

The 21-year old singer appeared in court Monday for his second arraignment in the death of 14-year old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The headlines of “not guilty” did nit tell the key detail of the day. Blair Berk, Marilynne Bednarski and the remainder of his prominent defense team withdrew from the case. No reason was given to the press.

This is not a good look for somebody that is now hoping to be freed from looming hell. Now, I am not defending this man. For all accounts, he’s trash. And that is solely based on what we have read in the headlines. That being said, he’s also allowed to have a solid legal team. He’s going to have to contend with decent.

Los Angeles County Deputy Public Defender Walid Kandeel is now that decent team. Can you see the movie coming out of this whole thing? From the public defender’s name to the way he got the gig, MOVIE. And do not get me started on the case. Move.

Anyway, Walid immediately assumed responsibility for the defense after officials determined D4VD qualified for appointed counsel. There is a twist. We thought the singer was caked up. That may not be the case now. An earlier hearing indicated David Anthony Burke– his government name – earned at least $10 million from music between 2023 and 2025. You and I know what this means: his broke. He does not have any more money to pay for those big wig lawyers. By the way, I think he was cooked before they withdrew from the case.

Attorney Kandeel acknowledged the gravity of the case and promised Burke a serious defense.

“We recognize the loss of life underlying the allegations and extend our sympathies to those who are grieving. At the same time, David Burke is entitled to a defense that takes his circumstances seriously and carefully examines the evidence. We are committed to providing him with that defense,” Kandeel said to the court.

Kandeel asked Judge Charlaine Olmedo to postpone the arraignment, but was immediately denied. D4VD pleaded not guilty again to murder with special circumstances, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains. OMG. Seeing this is very dramatic, traumatic and disturbing.

Prosecutors allege Celeste was killed and dismembered before her remains were placed inside bags in the front trunk of Burke’s Tesla. Her body was discovered after the vehicle was impounded in September 2025.

Burke remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

For the movie, we have to toss D4VD in the trash. For some reason, “Burke” is more fitting for the movie.

Burke returns to court October 19.
