Uganda Cranes face DR Congo for the second time in four days at the FNB stadium on Monday with Paul Put using the friendly to further assess his team.

In the first game at the same venue on Friday, James Bogere and Kelvin Boateng scored in either half to hand the Uganda Cranes a 2-0 win over the Leopards.

Despite so, Sebastien Desabre’s men were the better side in possession but Put’s men looked steadfast thwarting whatever was thrown at them and when they got their opportunities, they buried them.

In fact, the score line could have been different had substitute Frank Ssebuufu hit the target after intercepting another lose pass from the DR Congo goalkeeper like Bogere did for the opening goal.

With Denis Onyango, Nathan Asiimwe, Noble Okello and Aziz Kayondo left out of the two matches, Put tried a different set of players captained by Denis Omedi and they gave a good account of themselves.

The Belgian is expected to reshuffle his pack even more to give minutes to players who haven’t played much so far in this elongated international window.

One of local based goalkeepers David Lukwago (SC Villa) or Hannington Ssebwalunyo (NEC) as well as Kingdom Osayi who are yet to play could start in goal.

Other players destined for more minutes are Richard Basangwa, Frank Ssebuufu and Sadam Masereka who were second half substitutes in the Friday victory and it remains unknown whether Souleymane Diaby and Dieudonne Gaucho are ready to play.

Though the result may not be that crucial, Desabre and DR Congo will want to avoid another defeat as the window concludes.
