Love and Legacy: An Iconic Engagement Session in Washington, D.C.

Amik and Alexis’ story began before they even realized it. They first crossed paths when Amik visited Louisiana Tech for a recruiting visit, though neither of them remembered the encounter when they eventually started spending time together. It was Alexis’s cousin, a teammate of Amik’s, who insisted that they would be a perfect match and as it turns out, he was absolutely right.

After seven years of growing together in love, the couple are now preparing to become husband and wife early next year. Their engagement session was intentionally designed to feel less like traditional engagement photography and more like an editorial portrait story—one centered on Black love, style, partnership, and legacy. Engagement Story

Alexis: Amik planned a couples’ trip to Aspen, but he had something else planned. He invited some of our closest family and friends to be there to attempt to “throw me off”. We went to dinner, and he surprised me with an entire proposal setup. Having a few of our people there to celebrate such a special moment with us made the proposal even more meaningful and unforgettable. 

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding? 

More than anything, we are looking forward to finally becoming one and celebrating this next chapter surrounded by the people we love most.
