Circle to Acquire Tazapay to Expand Stablecoin-Powered Cross-Border Payments

Circle Internet Group  has signed an agreement to acquire Tazapay,  a cross-border payments infrastructure company, in a deal aimed at expanding stablecoin-enabled money movement across global markets.

The acquisition will bring together Circle’s USDC stablecoin and Circle Payments Network with Tazapay’s regulated infrastructure for connecting digital assets to local currencies and payment rails. The companies said the combination is intended to make cross-border payments faster, more accessible and easier to scale.

Tazapay provides virtual accounts, payouts, stablecoin services and payment gateway infrastructure, with licences and registrations across Singapore, the United States, Canada, Australia and Hong Kong. Its payout network covers more than 100 markets and is supported by more than 60 banking and fintech partners.

The company said it currently processes around $25 billion in annualised payment volume, with more than 60% of that volume already involving stablecoins. This existing adoption, it said, demonstrates growing demand for stablecoin-based settlement through established local payment infrastructure.

Circle and Tazapay have maintained a relationship for several years. Circle was an early partner in Tazapay’s stablecoin activities and participated as the lead investor in its Series B extension. Tazapay also became an early design partner for Circle Payments Network in 2025.

Under the agreement, Tazapay customers will continue operating under their existing arrangements during the transition. Contracts, virtual accounts, payout routes, settlement arrangements, integrations, account contacts, products and licences will remain unchanged, with customers to be notified of any future changes.

Tazapay will also continue operating under its existing brand, team and product roadmap. The company said the acquisition is expected to provide greater scale and enable it to expand its payment corridors and services over time.

The transaction is expected to close in 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, including approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Until completion, Tazapay will continue operating as it does today.
