Airtel Africa Foundation and UNICEF Connect Over 1,200 Nigerian Schools to Digital Learning

Airtel Africa Foundation , in partnership with UNICEF , is expanding digital learning access across Nigerian schools, with a focus on identifying communities where connectivity and technology can have the greatest impact.

The foundation said collaboration with local governments has helped it better understand the needs of schoolchildren and identify schools that can benefit most from digital learning investments.

One example is St Agnes Primary School in Lagos, where students are using digital learning tools and connectivity provided through the Airtel-UNICEF partnership to access educational resources beyond those available in their classrooms.

The initiative is also helping teachers explore new ways of engaging students and supporting their learning and development through technology.

Across Nigeria, the wider school connectivity programme has supported more than 1,200 schools, reaching approximately 600,000 learners with digital learning tools and connectivity.

Airtel Africa Foundation said the programme reflects its broader focus on digital inclusion, with connected schools providing young people with opportunities to build digital confidence, access knowledge and develop skills relevant to a changing economy.

The foundation emphasised that digital inclusion goes beyond simply connecting people to the internet. It said the objective is to ensure that young people can use technology to learn, develop and create opportunities for their future.
