19-year-old man remanded for allegedly stabbing brother in the eye; come to court with his eye black

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 19-year-old Belize City man has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being accused of attacking his older brother with a knife during a family dispute.

Brenton Conrad Archer, a construction worker of Iguana Street, appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument upon his 22-year-old brother.

Archer pleaded not guilty.

Police allege that Archer and his brother became involved in an altercation at a residence on Iguana Street on Friday, August 21. The confrontation reportedly escalated into a fight during which Archer’s brother was stabbed several times.

Police later visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where the brother was observed with lacerations to both sides of his mouth as well as stab wounds to his left eye and cheek.

The prosecution did not object to bail for Archer; however, the Magistrate expressed concern that the brothers may live at the same residence or in close proximity to each other.

Archer told the court that his brother does not live in the same yard, but the Magistrate opted to temporarily withhold bail while the prosecution verifies their living arrangements.

The court said the precaution was necessary to avoid another confrontation between the siblings once Archer is released.

Archer, who also appeared in court with visible injuries to his eye and a bandaged right hand, was remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

He is due back in court on September 2, 2026, when the issue of bail is expected to be revisited.
