Jaleel White

At the center of the Urkel phenomenon is Jaleel White, who turned what was supposed to be a one-off guest appearance into one of television’s most recognizable characters. White’s hilarious character Steve Urkel became a centerpiece of the series, as well as his smooth-talking alter ego Stefan Urquelle. With his nerdy demeanor and hilarious laugh filled with snorts, fans loved watching Urkel whip up odd science experiments and try to win over the heart of Laura Winslow despite her frequent rejections.
After the show ended, White has continued working in Hollywood long after leaving the Winslow household, appearing in movies and television, competing on Dancing with the Stars, and taking on hosting duties for the game show Flip Side. He has also appeared in projects including Netflix’s Hustle and Disney+’s Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. And yes, White has even found a way to bring a little Urkel energy into the business world with his own cannabis brand, ItsPurpl.
