UNITEL Revenue Rises 17% to 274 Billion Kwanzas in H1 2026 as Data Use Surges

Angolan telecommunications operator UNITEL S.A.  recorded strong financial and operational growth in the first half of 2026, with revenue rising 17% year-on-year to 274 billion Kwanzas.

The company said the increase was driven mainly by growth in its mobile business, stronger performance in the residential segment and rising adoption of digital services. EBITDA reached 91 billion Kwanzas, representing a 15% increase from H1 2025, while the EBITDA margin stood at 33.3%. Net income rose to 66.3 billion Kwanzas.

UNITEL also reported a solid financial position, with 65% financial autonomy and a 182% solvency ratio. The operator recorded a positive cash balance of 32.8 billion Kwanzas between EBITDA and CAPEX, which it said supports its capacity to finance further network infrastructure and digital expansion.

On the commercial side, UNITEL’s subscriber base surpassed 21.2 million, while data consumption increased by 43% compared with the first half of 2025. During the period, the operator launched UNITEL TV, an entertainment and internet offering developed with DStv, and expanded 5G coverage to Namibe, Malanje, Kwanza Sul, Zaire and Cabinda provinces.

The company also increased its network footprint to 12,302 base stations, representing 13% year-on-year growth, while maintaining network availability at 99.998%. Its digital expansion included initiatives through UNITEL LABS and the UNITEL GO development programme, alongside enhanced B2B solutions and investments in sovereign cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

Under its environmental, social and governance agenda, UNITEL continued programmes focused on digital inclusion, healthcare, education, environmental conservation and local entrepreneurship. The company said its initiatives supported more than 1,400 children within the formal education system, alongside regional environmental conservation projects.

UNITEL said the H1 2026 results reflect continued execution of its strategy and provide a foundation for further investment in telecommunications infrastructure and digital services in Angola.
