UK’s first ever Latino film festival is coming to London

The UK’s first ever Latino film festival is set to take place in London in October.
Running between October 2 and October 6, the London Latino Film Festival (LoLaFF) will showcase 60 films by Latin-American filmmakers and those of the diaspora, spanning feature fiction and documentary, animation and short.
The festival’s opening night will take place at the Barbican, with other screenings and events taking place at BFI Stephen Street, the ICA and other arthouse cinemas across the city. There will also be an exhibition displaying film posters printed in Cuba at the Eclectic Gallery, which opens September 28.
It’s founded by Ketty Rodriguez, who has been living in London since 2025. She noticed a gap in representation of Latin American culture, so decided to create the event to celebrate their stories and work.
Rodriguez said: “I couldn’t find my people. Europe has an incredible art scene and a rich, cinematic past, yet very few people know about Latin cinema. It’s extremely underrepresented, so I decided to do something about it.
London has around 145,000 Latin Americans living in the city, while across the UK there is estimated to be just under half a million. On official forms, they fall under the ‘Other’ category.
Films that will be on show over the festival’s five days include Naira (2025), Espina (2025) and ¡Quba! (2025), which dives into the history of Cuba’s LGBTQ+ community.
Other programming includes Q&As with Latino film and dance legends Óscar Martínez, Jorge Perugorría and Carlos Acosta.
