Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the accident occurred at the 19-kilometre peg on August 19, 2026.
According to Nyathi, the Toyota Wish was carrying nine passengers when it collided with the Nissan NV350 that was travelling in the opposite direction with five occupants on board.
“As a result of the collision, three passengers who were travelling in the Toyota Wish sustained severe injuries and were pronounced dead upon admission at Victoria Chitepo Hospital,” the police commissioner said in a statement.
Police did not indicate the condition of the other 11 occupants who were in both vehicles at the time of the crash.
The ZRP has urged motorists to exercise caution, observe road rules, avoid speeding and overtaking in undesignated areas, especially on rural roads.
