Leon Earl Weir, a resident of George Street, appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with possession of a controlled drug.
According to the report, police were conducting foot patrol on Sarstoon Street at around 1:45 a.m. when they searched Weir and allegedly found the small quantity of cocaine concealed in his hat.
Weir pleaded guilty to the charge and told the court it was his first time using cocaine.
“This is the first time I ever tek cocaine. I am sorry I put myself through this,” Weir said, asking the court for a fine and time to pay.
The magistrate fined him $200 plus $5 in court costs. He has until October 30, 2026, to pay the fine or face two weeks’ imprisonment in default.
