THE NEXT GENERATION TAKES THE COURT: OTE’S OTSELECT SHOWCASES THE FUTURE OF WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

The future of women’s basketball was on full display July 31 as OTE |  OTSelect brought together some of the country’s most exciting high school-aged basketball talent for an action-packed matchup between YGE and Flau State.

OTSelect offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for young athletes to experience basketball through a professional lens while receiving the attention, mentorship and support needed to develop both on and off the court. It is more than a league — it is an incubation space for the next generation of skilled athletes.

FLAU STATE Team owner Flau’jae Johnson was in attendance before the game and throughout the action, lending her energy and support as Flau State battled YGE for the win.

The matchup delivered everything fans could want from a showcase of emerging talent, intensity, athleticism, competitive fire and plenty of moments that made it clear these young women are already playing like professionals.

Flau State ultimately secured the victory, closing out the game with an 87–72 final score.

But the scoreboard was only one part of the story.

A DOUBLE-TEAM MOMENT FOR THE MANUEL SISTERS

One of the evening’s most memorable storylines came courtesy of twin sisters Maya and Cara Manuel, who found themselves on opposite sides of the court.

Both sisters are starters for their respective teams, creating an unforgettable sibling showdown that gave the phrase family competition an entirely new meaning.

Watching the  twins compete against one another at this level was a special reminder of the many stories that exist beneath the jerseys — the relationships, sacrifices and journeys that make youth basketball so compelling.

In this intense showdown for the win , Maya and Cara weren’t just sisters.

They were competitors. And the court had room for both of them to shine.

JEZELLE “GG” BANKS: A CAPTAIN WITH FIRE

For YGE, Jezelle “GG” Banks brought an unmistakable intensity to the game.

As captain, Banks played with the kind of fire and determination that every championship-caliber team needs. Her presence reflected the mentality behind YGE’s pursuit of a title: confidence, leadership and the refusal to let the moment become bigger than the mission.

Banks is one of those players who reminds you that leadership isn’t always about being the loudest person on the floor. Sometimes, it is about setting the standard. Banks is clearly determined to set hers.

On the Flau State side, another name demanding attention is Rosie Oladokun.

Standing at an impressive 6’5”, Oladokun is already attracting serious attention from some of the country’s most respected collegiate programs. Her reported offers include Syracuse, Ohio State, the University of Louisville, the University of Florida, Harvard University, Virginia Tech and more.

Her size, presence and potential make Oladokun one of the players to watch as she continues her journey toward the next level.

And if her OTSelect performance is any indication, the recruiting attention is only the beginning.

What makes OTSelect special is not simply the talent on the floor.

The July 31 matchup between YGE and Flau State was ultimately decided 87–72 in favor of Flau State, but the bigger victory was seeing this caliber of young women’s talent given a platform worthy of their potential.

From the Manuel twins battling across opposing teams, to Janelle “GG” Banks leading YGE with championship ambition, to Rosie Oladokun continuing to establish herself as a highly sought-after prospect, the message was clear:

The next generation isn’t waiting for permission to arrive.

They are already on the court.

They are already being watched.

And they are already making history.
