New bike park opens at Delta’s Kensington Park North ​

​​A new bike park is now open to the public at Delta’s Kensington Park North.

​Construction on the highly anticipated Kensington Bike Park began in May with a design that was developed through consultation with community members and parks users.

​“We are thrilled to be able to provide a brand-new venue for Delta’s riding community,” said Delta Mayor George V. Harvie. “Through community feedback, we were able to design and build a park that is both inclusive of beginners, while providing a challenge to more experienced riders. We look forward to seeing people of all ages embrace this exciting new amenity.”

​Kensington Bike Park is open daily from dawn to dusk and features an asphalt pump track; a dirt jump area with four levels of difficulty for beginners, intermediate, advanced, and expert riders; a staging area for dirt jump lines; a seating and rest area; and an accessible pathway connecting to the existing parking lot. The asphalt track covers an area of over 1000 square metres, and is 107 metres long, while the dirt jumps cover 2600 square metres with four jump lines (three jumps per line), and runs 206 metres long.

​The existing pump track at Holly Park will remain open for riders to use alongside the Kensington Bike Park, while a broader Master Plan process for Holly Park is considered.
