The Big Hash Celebrates As “Love Is A Star” Hits #1 In 15 African Countries On Apple Music. South African artist The Big Hash is celebrating a major milestone after his collaborative album Love Is A Star climbed to the top of the Apple Music Amapiano charts in 15 African countries.

Created alongside acclaimed producers Sly and Kabza De Small, the project has claimed the number one spot in Mali, Gabon, Liberia, Mauritius, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Eswatini, Namibia, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Senegal, Angola, Madagascar, Ivory Coast and The Gambia. The achievement highlights the album’s growing popularity across the continent, with listeners embracing its seamless blend of Amapiano, hip hop and R&B influences.
The Big Hash shared the exciting news on Instagram alongside artwork featuring gold, jewel-encrusted lips inspired by the album’s title.
“#1 IN 15 COUNTRIES on @applemusic?!
Africa, I don’t deserve you

,” he wrote. “Thank God, thank Papta, Sly & the team, but most importantly… THANK YOU!
#LoveIsAStar.”
Released on 8 May 2026 through Sony Music Entertainment Africa, Love Is A Star delivers 10 tracks that merge The Big Hash’s reflective songwriting with Kabza De Small and Sly’s signature Amapiano production. Songs such as “Company,” “Uthando” featuring Lia Butler, “Ngcono” featuring Blxckie, “Ringtone v2” with Kelvin Momo and the closing track “When It Comes to you” featuring Jay Sax have resonated with fans looking for both emotional storytelling and dancefloor-ready grooves.
The latest chart achievement adds another impressive chapter to the album’s growing success. While the project has already generated strong streaming numbers since its release, topping the Amapiano charts across 15 African countries reinforces its widespread appeal and showcases how effortlessly it crosses genre boundaries.
The Big Hash also joked about the album’s international reach, writing, “Speaking of other countries, I was somewhere out in London too (In spirit lol), courtesy of the Scorpion Kings!!
.”
The lighthearted remark referenced the influence of the Scorpion Kings, the celebrated duo of Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa, whose global footprint has helped elevate Amapiano to audiences far beyond Africa.
As Love Is A Star continues to dominate playlists and charts across the continent, The Big Hash’s message of gratitude reflects a moment that is as much about African music’s continued rise as it is about the success of one standout project.
