Yesterday (Thursday), the T A Marryshow Community College (TAMCC) graduated a historic five students with perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA).
While traditionally the College has been graduating one exceptional top performer, who sometime achieve a 4.0 GPA, this trend was broken in 2024 when the College recorded two students attaining perfect GPAs, then three students attaining the same feat in 2025.
This year’s top performers were -Destiny Antoine (Culinary Arts), Micah Pinnock (Mechanical Technology), Jaida Victor (Building Technology), Alyssa Goddard (Natural Science) and Jace Neptune (Electrical Installation).
During last Thursday’s Academic Awards ceremony hosted by the College, they were honoured with the Republic Bank Award for Overall Academic Excellence in their respective programmes, and each received a commemorative plaque and a $1,000 e-Free account gift certificate, presented by Peaches George, Acting Manager -Retail Services, Republic House.
The 4th Annual Academic Award Ceremony saw the distribution of over 70 awards to students who achieved at GPA of 3.0 and above.
They were encouraged to keep striving for excellence by Grenada’s second Olympic medalist – Lindon Victor, MBE who was the Keynote Speaker.
As a decathlete who competes in 10 different track and field disciplines, Victor likened his sport to varying life experiences. He said, “Decathlon reminds us that the journey is made up of many different events, each requiring completely unique skills, strengths and perspectives.”
The elite athlete who secured a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, told the students, “At times life feels like a Sprint – fast paced, exciting, demanding quick results while other times you will encounter high hurdles that demand focus, discipline and precise techniques.”
Sharing his experience, Victor from La Femme, Saint David said, “And there are other seasons like long distance running that tests your endurance, resilience and mental grip. So, create your own story even though your path is different from others. One bad event should not cause you to give up as in a Decathlon the award goes to the one who perseveres, adapts and endures to the end and not the one that does the best in one event.”
The two-time Commonwealth Games champion (2018, 2022) and World Championship bronze medalist (2023), encouraging the graduands stated, “Keep pursuing greater heights, strive for excellence, seek new opportunities and never stop learning. Do not let your learning simply lead to knowledge, let it lead to action…the true value is how you apply it around you.”
He added, “Rise above every set back, dream bold, work diligently with integrity and serve with compassion.”
TAMCC principal Andrew Abraham reminded the graduands “Excellence is seldom an accident, behind every accomplishment are countless hours of study, discipline, good habits, perseverance, sacrifice, commitment to doing what is required and sometimes what’s difficult.”
He added, “Your success is testament to the seed that you have sown through dedication, discipline and determination. May this achievement inspire you to continue pursuing excellence, serving others and maximizing the gifts and talents God has placed within you.”
The July 02 ceremony held at the Grenada Trade Centre was attended by Governor General Dame Cecile La Grenade, Minister for Education – senator the Hon David Andrew, members of the College Council and members of the business community who all participated in the presentation of the awards.
