Taiwan’s National Chengchi University delegation visit Belize to explore impact of TaiwanICDF Projects

By Zoila Palma:  A delegation from Taiwan’s National Chengchi University (NCCU) visited Belize from August 18 to 31, 2026, as part of a study visit focused on exploring the impact of Taiwan-supported development initiatives in Belize.

The delegation was led by Associate Dean Hsiao-Pong Liu and included students Chen-Wei Yen and Yu-Hsuan Lin.

During their visit, the delegation was welcomed by the Taiwan Technical Mission and visited several initiatives supported by the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF).

The team gained firsthand insight into how these projects have contributed to communities and sectors across Belize, including agriculture, business development and disaster risk management.

Among the highlights was an interview with Shahira Muschamp of Champ’s Greek Yogurt, who shared her experience and explained how the Women’s Project helped strengthen and expand her business.

The delegation also visited the former Breeding Sheep & Goat Production and Guidance System Enhancement Project site at Central Farm, hydrological sites under the Multi-Hazard Risk Management Capacity Building Project, and a banana plot supported through the Regional Project for the Prevention and Control of Fusarium TR4.

Through interviews, photographs and video recordings, the NCCU delegation documented stories of partnership, innovation and development impact in Belize.
