Surrey overnight collision sends one to hospital

SURREY Police Service (SPS) is investigating an overnight collision between two vehicles that sent one person to hospital with minor injuries.

On Wednesday, September 16, shortly before 11 p.m., SPS Frontline officers responded to a request from Surrey Fire Services to attend a serious collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of 138 Street and 64 Avenue.

Officers located the driver of one vehicle, an Audi sedan, that was significantly damaged. The driver was receiving emergency medical treatment from BCEHS paramedics. Officers also located the driver of the second vehicle, a Toyota Prius, that was undrivable due to the damage. The driver was treated at the scene by Surrey Fire Services for minor injuries. The second vehicle was also occupied by a passenger at the time of the collision, but they left the scene prior to police arrival and were later confirmed to have no injuries.

The driver of the Audi, an adult man and the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to hospital for treatment of unknown injuries, and he is expected to be released from care sometime on Thursday.

SPS’s Collision Investigation Unit was called in and has taken over the lead on the investigation. While the investigation is in its early stages, alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor. Parts of the intersection were closed for several hours during the night but has reopened.

Surrey Police Service is requesting any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have any information, including dashcam footage, to call Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file 26-99673 (SP).
