By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 27-year-old pregnant woman in San Pedro has reported an alleged assault by her boyfriend, telling police that she was bitten, choked and had pressure applied to her stomach during an incident at her home.
Police said that the woman reported that on Friday, August 21, at approximately 10:30 p.m., she was in her room with her boyfriend when a message from another woman appeared on his cellphone.
The man then attempted to take the phone back after she refused to hand it over, and he allegedly became aggressive.
According to the report, the pregnant woman said that her boyfriend bit the left side of her back and placed both hands around her neck, choking her while she shouted for help.
She also reported that he placed both hands on her stomach and applied pressure, causing her pain.
The woman told police she was 27 weeks pregnant and became fearful for her life. Police observed bite marks and a bruise and issued her a Medico-Legal Form.
The boyfriend was detained and later formally arrested and charged with Wounding.
