By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in San Pedro recovered 25 grams of suspected cocaine during a joint operation in the San Mateo area on Friday morning.

According to police information, officers from several units carried out a search at a residence after receiving Special Branch intelligence.

Police say nothing incriminating was found at the residence.

Officers then expanded the search to an empty lot located parallel to the property.

During those checks, police reportedly found a green plastic bag containing a smaller transparent plastic bag with a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine.

No one was in the immediate area when the suspected drugs were discovered.

The substance was taken to the San Pedro Police Station, where it was weighed and amounted to 25 grams.

Police later placed the suspected cocaine inside an envelope, sealed and labelled it and deposited it as found property.

No arrests were reported in connection with the discovery.
