National Tourism Public Speaking Competition finalists chosen

The finalists for the 2026 National Tourism Public Speaking Competition have now been officially selected.

Twenty-five students from nine secondary schools took part in the preliminary round, which was both engaging and competitive, according to officials. Their strong participation shows ongoing interest in the Ministry’s efforts to raise youth awareness and encourage student ambassadors for Saint Lucia’s tourism sector.

In the preliminary phase, students submitted videos for the first round of judging, and 10 outstanding finalists were chosen. These students come from St Mary’s College Secondary School, Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School, St Joseph’s Convent, Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School, Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School, and Castries Comprehensive Secondary School.

The finalists will compete in the National Public Speaking Competition on July 2, 2026. The winner will receive the title of Junior Minister of Tourism.

To help the finalists get ready for the finals and the upcoming regional competition, the Department of Tourism held a workshop on Friday, May 15. Finalists and their liaison teachers attended sessions on improving public speaking, learning about Saint Lucia’s tourism industry, and discussing four main topics for the final competition.
