Man (30) arrested for strangling wife to death with shoelace

POLICE in Harare have arrested a 30-year-old man from Hatfield suburb for allegedly murdering his wife following a domestic dispute.

The suspect, Stephen Sarurai (30), is alleged to have strangled his wife, Zvikomborero Tari (26), to death with a shoelace.

The incident occurred at a house at Maruwa Farm Compound, Hatfield, on September 17, 2026.

In a statement, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest.

“Police in Hatfield arrested Stephen Sarurai (30) in connection with a case of murder which occurred at a house at Maruwa Farm Compound, Hatfield on 17/09/26,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

“The suspect allegedly strangled his wife, Zvikomborero Tari (26) to death with a shoelace following a domestic dispute emanating from allegations of infidelity.”

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.

Police have reiterated their call for the public to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes.
