Lake Zone sees epic Rock City Festival, a big boost for its arts, sports, tourism

MWANZA: THE Coordinator of the Rock City 2026 festival, Happiness Remji, has said this year’s festival is expected to be held from August 15 to December 2026 in Mwanza with the aim of highlighting young talents, promoting arts, sports, tourism and stimulating social and economic development in the Lake Zone.

Speaking in Mwanza today, July 12, 2026,Remji said the festival organized by Feyfay Investment will be a platform to connect the arts, sports, business, creativity and tourism sectors, while providing opportunities for young people to showcase their talents and gain development opportunities.

She said the festival will run for a period of five months through various events that will be held in Mwanza and other parts of the Lake Zone.

She said the festival will include the Rock City Cup, a football competition that will aim to highlight and promote young talents, as well as the Rock Talents Search, a platform to find and develop artistic talents for budding artists.

In addition,  She added there will be Rock city Festival Empowerment, a program to build the capacity of artists and athletes through training, seminars and professional advice to enable them to take advantage of existing opportunities in the creative and sports sectors.

She added The festival will also have Rock City Fun Run’, a race to promote health, community cohesion and citizen participation in sports activities, while the Rock City Awards will be used to recognize and appreciate the contribution of people, institutions and stakeholders who contribute to the development of Mwanza in the fields of art, sports, business, entrepreneurship, tourism and community development.

On the entertainment side, Remji said the Rock City concert will bring together various artists from Tanzania and abroad, as a platform to promote music and provide entertainment to the citizens.

On the tourism side, the festival will involve a Rock City tour, which will allow participants to visit various tourist attractions in the Lake Zone including Saanane National Park, Bismarck Rock, Serengeti National Park and other areas with unique attractions.

Remji said the organizers’ goal is to make the Rock City Festival a permanent festival that will enable talent to emerge, empower youth, connect development stakeholders and stimulate economic growth through arts, sports and tourism.

She called on public and private institutions, companies, organizations and various stakeholders to come forward to sponsor the festival to ensure it is successful and achieves its intended goals.
