Koryx completes key copper drill project

Koryx Copper SA, a Luxembourg-domiciled copper development company, has announced positive infill drill results at the completion of its pre-feasibility study at Haib copper project in southern Namibia.

According to a statement issued by the company on Tuesday, assay results are for 18 holes comprising 7 074m of infill and expansion drilling.

Commenting on the results, Koryx president and chief executive Heye Daun says: “This release covers assay results from a further 18 drill holes.

“Consistent with our prior results, we continue to see very wide intercepts across the Haib deposit, together with some notably higher-grade zones near surface, and this set of results demonstrates this well, particularly within target area three where the mine plan is scheduled to begin,” he says.

Daun says with the infill and expansion drilling programme now complete, the technical team is focused on completing the geological modelling and estimation work required for the updated mineral resource estimate and pre-feasibility study.

“Both of these programmes remain on track for publication before the end of 2026,” he says.

Daun says Haib is a massive, disseminated porphyry copper, molybdenum and gold deposit, and is envisaged to produce a copper and molybdenum concentrate via large-scale open pit mining and conventional sulphide milling and flotation.

The drill programme was divided into four target areas with four drill sites in target area one, four sites in target area two, eight sites in target area three, and one in target area four.

Daun says all drill core was cut in half, with half of the core bagged and sent to ALS Laboratories Ltd in Johannesburg, South Africa, for analysis and ActLabs in Canada.

The other half was quartered with one quarter archived and stored on site for verification and reference purposes, while the other quarter will be used for metallurgical test work.

Koryx Copper is advancing its 100%-owned Haib Copper Project in Namibia while also building a portfolio of copper exploration licences in Zambia.

Haib has a long history of exploration and project development by multiple operators, with more than 160 000m of drilling conducted at the site since the 1970s, and with significant exploration programmes led by companies including Falconbridge (1964), Rio Tinto (1975), Teck (2014) and Koryx Copper (2021 to 2026).

Extensive further drilling, metallurgical testing and various technical studies have been completed with additional studies underway aimed at demonstrating Haib as a future long-life, low-cost, low-risk open pit, sulphide milling and flotation copper project with additional heap leach potential.
