Fresh off reuniting with Kanye West at Yeezy’s Homecoming concert in Chicago just last week, Kid Cudi is already back to work in Hollywood putting together a brand new horror film.
According to Deadline, Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi will write, direct and star in his upcoming project, Wrong Number, which will also feature former Euphoria cast member Barbie Ferreira. Centered around Cudi’s character of a self-help author named Ibn, Wrong Number will see the lonely author get involved with a young woman named Eliza (Ferreira), who turns his world upside down as he finds himself being stalked by someone while also being a prime suspect in a string of murders.
Sounds like Kanye West might make a cameo as the plot twist if you ask us. Just sayin’.
This would make Cudi’s third appearance in a horror film as he’s appeared in 2022’s X and 2024’s Trap (more of a thriller than anything), and if you know anything about Kid Cudi, it’s that he loves horror films.
Per Deadline:
“A lot of people know that im a huge horror buff. And it was only a matter of time before I’d jump into the genre myself with my own stories,” Mescudi wrote in a statement to Deadline. “WRONG NUMBER is a fun ride, an original story that has all the elements of an epic horror thriller, and I can’t wait for you all the experience it. So thankful to have this amazing cast and team with me on this wild journey. There will be blood!!”
We hope so!
Though Wrong Number will be directed by Cudi, his debut directorial project, Doe, is still in production, and he hopes to get it out sometime in 2027. Juggling two films at once might seem like a herculean effort, but Cudi is more than up to the task.
“Directing my second film in a year is unreal,” Mescudi said. “I’m learning more and more each day and I’m just ready for the challenge. I’m hyped to see people become fans of my filmmaking in the same ways they are with my music. I’m putting the industry on notice, Mad Solar bout to shake it up.”
No word on when Wrong Number is set to hit theaters (or streaming) but best believe we’ll be waiting to see what Kid Cudi done cooked up for the horror genre when it finally comes out.
