Ivan Ahimbisibwe returns to KCCA after 35 days in Iraq

Striker Ivan Ahimbisibwe has completed his return to KCCA, following a brief spell in Iraq that lasted only 35 days.

Ahimbisibwe, commonly referred to as The Hunter, had secured a deal with Iraqi outfit Zakho Sports Club, but things did not go as planned, thus parting ways with the team.

In the last few days, Ahimbisibwe has been a major topic of discussion, with earlier reports linking him to Champions Vipers SC.

However, the player opted to return to Lugogo, where he had a remarkable spell during the 2025/26 season, earning the League top scorer award with 14 goals, and signing a two-year deal.

He returns at a time when the club has had a sloppy start to the new season, managing to score just one goal in four games.

Upon putting pen to paper, Ahimbisibwe indicated it feels like returning home, and he is ready to go again.

“If I was ever going to come back home, it was always going to be KCCA FC; there was never any doubt. This club treated me like family during my time here, and the love from the Cityzens was unmatched. When the chance to pull on this famous yellow shirt again came up, I didn’t need to think twice. I am back to finish what we started,” he said, as quoted by the club website.

At KCCA, the striking department is now beefed up with Charles Lwanga, Emmanuel Anyama and Kennedy Muserero already in the ranks.

If all the paperwork is completed in time, Ahimbisibwe is likely to make his debut against former club URA on 9th October after the international break.
