KCB Foundation Launches EV Innovation Challenge to Advance Electric Mobility in Kenya

Kenya’s KCB Foundation  has launched the EV Explorers Rhino Charge 2026 Innovation Challenge, bringing together innovators, engineers and industry players to develop solutions aimed at advancing electric mobility in Kenya and beyond.

The challenge was launched at the KCB Leadership Centre and is focused on connecting education, practical engineering experience and innovation to support the development of sustainable electric mobility solutions.

KCB Foundation Managing Director Mendi Njonjo said the initiative is designed to help young people gain practical skills and experience while giving them opportunities to contribute to solutions for the future of mobility.

As part of the challenge, two female students pursuing engineering courses at technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions will work on real-world electric mobility solutions. They will also receive support to complete their studies and undertake a three-month paid practical attachment at Foley’s Garage.

The programme places particular emphasis on increasing opportunities for women in engineering and technology by giving participants exposure to practical applications of electric mobility.

KCB Foundation said the initiative goes beyond supporting green technology by creating pathways for young people to build technical skills, gain industry experience and participate in Kenya’s emerging electric mobility sector.

By combining education, hands-on training and innovation, the EV Explorers Rhino Charge 2026 Innovation Challenge is expected to help develop practical solutions while preparing young engineers for opportunities in sustainable mobility.
