International News: Shooting at Seattle Food Festival claims 3 lives, several injured

By Zoila Palma:  Three people were killed and several others wounded, including a 2-year-old child, after two people allegedly exchanged gunfire at the Bite of Seattle food festival near the iconic Space Needle on Sunday evening.

The shooting sent hundreds of festivalgoers fleeing the Seattle Center grounds as authorities responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 6 p.m, CNN reports.

Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while four others, including the toddler, were transported to Harborview Medical Center. A fifth victim later arrived at another hospital with a gunshot wound, and one of those hospitalized subsequently died, according to Seattle police.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots as crowds ran for safety, with videos showing people knocking down a fence to escape the area.

Police said two people were believed to have been shooting at each other, and two weapons were recovered. One suspect, described as a young person, was taken into custody, while authorities continued searching for a second person believed to be involved.

The motive remains unknown, but police said there was no ongoing threat to the community and urged witnesses to provide information.
