IIT-B student suicide: Mumbai Police detain at least 20 protesters at candlelight vigil
The demonstrators alleged that the police used force during the detentions, including manhandling women.

The Mumbai Police on Sunday detained at least 20 protesters during a demonstration at Chaityabhoomi in Dadar, demanding an investigation into the death of Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay student Sahil Wakode, The Hindu reported.
Sahil Wakode was found hanging in his hostel room on September 18. His family has alleged that he faced caste-based discrimination at the institute.
The protesters alleged that the police used force during the detentions, including manhandling women while removing them from Chaityabhoomi, the memorial and cremation site of BR Ambedkar, The Hindu reported.
The police said the gathering was unauthorised but did not respond to the protesters’ allegations of manhandling and misconduct.
Those detained were released from Tardeo, Worli and Dadar police stations after 8.30 pm.
Stand-up comedian Masoom Rajwani was among those detained. Rajwani shared a video of his detention on Instagram, showing police personnel taking him away from the protest site.
