Fireboy mentioned, “I was so scared the first time I came to Lagos in 2016, in Surulere. People’s eyes were so red, and they looked scary. In two weeks, I saw someone run mad, dead bodies and cultists. Now, I also look like those scary people,” describing the intimidating atmosphere he faced.

He detailed how the experiences he encountered, including witnessing someone running mad and seeing dead bodies, contributed to his initial fear of the city.

Despite the shock from these experiences, Fireboy chose not to give up on his dreams. He said he gradually adapted to Lagos’s lifestyle as he pursued his music career, leading him to become a prominent figure in Afrobeats.
