Filmmakers’ association elects new board

The Filmmakers’ Association of Namibia (FAN) has elected a new seven-member board to lead the organisation for the 2026/2027 term following its annual general meeting (AGM) held on 27 June.

A total of 15 members were nominated for board positions, with the new leadership elected through an online voting process.

The board will be chaired by Tjiuna Daringo, with Byron Joseph serving as vice chairperson and communications lead. Other members are Iyaloo Melchior (secretary), Lavinia Kapewasha (treasurer and fundraising), Georgina Likukela (communications and digital), Errol Geingob (industry development), and Morna Ikosa (membership, partnerships and community).

In a statement, the association thanked members and stakeholders who attended the AGM, saying their participation reflected a shared commitment to strengthening Namibia’s film industry.

FAN also acknowledged the outgoing 2025/2026 board for its contribution to the growth of the organisation and the wider film sector.

The newly elected board is expected to hold its first strategic planning session later this month to set priorities and develop its programme of work for the year ahead.
